In 1956, the National UP School was started by Mr. P. J. John, Palathum Padikikal, in the village of Vazhamuttam, a rural area of ​​Pathanamthitta District, Vallikode Panchayat. This school is functioning under Konni educational subdistrict. As there was no learning facility for children within 5 km radius for common people,the beginning of this school was very beneficial. This school is situated in 2 acres of land.
Initially started with very few students, this school has rapidly climbed the ladder of growth. The first teacher was Fr PJ Joseph. Currently the manager of the school is Acklethu B. Gopinatha Pillai.
